This great new gadget from Cricut has arrived and is already in stores. It was in the Michael's ad this week for $279. Wonder what kind of specials they will have around the holidays. Can't wait to get my hands on one. Eead all about it; I have found a very interesting artical and have copied it here:

This info. was found on a website called Discount Diecut Cartridges and copied here. Sounds like a very cool addition to the Cricut product line is on it's way. Can't wait for it to hit the stores.

Here is what they had to say about the new Cricut Gypsy

If you love using Design Studio to customize your die cuts, it's a definite must-have! It allows you to do the same thing as Design Studio (and more), except it's portable. It's 8-1/2 inches long, about 4 inches tall, and weighs around 11 ounces. It is battery operated. The batteries will last about four hours when used continuously, and much longer when used intermittently. It also can be plugged in to either an electrical outlet or into your vehicle. However, I believe the vehicle charger is an optional accessory and will need to be purchased separately.

Like the Design Studio Software, the Cricut Gypsy will allow you to modify the cutouts - you can resize them, rotate and stretch them, flip them horizontally and vertically, and weld them. Any custom cutouts you design can be saved and stored directly on the device.

However, that's not all! You can also load all your cartridge content onto the Gypsy, and instead of using your cartridges, you can plug the device directly into your machine and make all of your cuts. You can do this without the use of your manual or keypad overlay. These are all stored within the device's interface, and you will use it to select the cuts you want to make. You will also be able to search all the images you have (and don't have) using this device.

Early on, there were some rumors that if you loaded the content from your cartridges on to the Cricut Gypsy, that it would erase the cartridges (apparently to prevent people from sharing cartridges). However, these were just rumors, and you will still be able to use your cartridges even after loading the content onto the device. However, to prevent people from sharing cartridges, when you link the cartridges to your Gypsy, it will copy your device's unique serial number to your cartridge. You will not be able to successfully link the cartridge to any other Gypsy devices after linking to your own. Long story short, if you plan to get one of these, don't loan out your cartridges!

The Provo Craft website also mentioned that the "Gypsy is expandable to bring you features that are already in the works". There is a photo application in the works, which will allow you to view your photographs on the device. However, I'm not sure what the other features are, but as soon as I know, I will let you in on it! As a side note, that's why the Cricut is my absolute favorite die cutting device. I thought the Baby Bug was great when it was first introduced, but every time I turn around, things just keep getting better - and the versatility of this die cut line keeps growing!

For updates, the Gypsy does connect to your computer. It's compatible with both PC's and MAC's.

I have not heard any "official" word yet on the price or the release date of the Cricut Gypsy. The "unofficial" word is that it will cost around $300. However, included in that price are two exclusive cartridges. I have heard that it will be released at the end of August, so it doesn't sound like we will have to wait too long for it. If you want to be one of the first ones to get it, there are some places that are taking pre-orders.

At first glance, I thought the new cartridge "Lyrical Letters" was not all that big of a deal. However, upon looking at it more closely, I see that I will NEED this one ASAP. It not only has 6 different alpha fonts, but it also includes lots of shapes and sayings to boot. Woo Hoo!!

I had an awesome birthday today! Thanks to my family and all of my friends who made the day really special. Lots of cards, phone calls, and e-mails truly made this one of the best birthdays ever. Love you guys!

Ladies Please Be Careful

Someone very close to me was raped last night. She was taken by surprise at her car when she left her apartment late last night to get something from her car. I want to remind everyone to be as careful as you possibly can. Take every precaution that you possibly can when you are alone. Especially with the upcoming crop at the store this weekend. The parking lot is very dark. Make sure to never leave by yourself, always have a buddy. This terrible thing can happen anywhere, even right outside your own home.

Important info. - Eyelid Cancer

I have just read a post on 2 Peas by a pea named Debbie (ScrapHappyDeb). She has recently discovered that she has eyelid cancer. In her post, she has asked to help her spread the word about this to as many people as possible. She even asks us to post this on our blogs, etc. I have copied her orginal post from 2 Peas here for you to read.

I have EYELID CANCER. I am posting on the scrap message boards I frequent as a way to let my scrap buddies know about this rare disease in hopes you don't wait too long to seek help for yourselves or love ones.

Readers Digest Version: I had a stye on my left eyelid that would come and go over the past two years. Mentioned it several times to both my General Pracice Doc and when I had my eyes checked for new glasses. No one ever seemed concerned about it. A month ago I had a bad sinus infection that wouldn't go away and then I had what looked like conjunctivitis. Went back to the doc. He sent me to see an ENT, ENT sent me to opthamologist, opthamologist sent me to chief of the opthamology department who diagnosed me with EYELID CANCER.

You can only imagine how shocked I was to hear this. Yes it is rare, but the oncology specialist I saw said that the occurance is increasing as our population ages and many people don't even know about it.

I have since had a biopsy to confirm, moh's surgery to remove it and plastic surgery to completely rebuild my lower left eyelid.

Today is the first day I have felt up to being on the computer long enough due to the surgery and the first thing I wanted to do was start letting people to know about this disease and not to ignore it.

Please share this message with others. We caught mine in time to not loose my vision but if left unattended it can metastisis and grow in your lymph nodes and cause lots of other problems.

Some of you may recognize my scrap name here so you know this is legit, others can check out my blog to know I am a real scrapper and just concerned about getting the word out.

Type of Eye Lid Cancer?: Mine was basel cell carcinoma. It could also have been sebaceous cell which would have been much nastier to deal with.

How do you get this?: The doc said it most likely from a sunburn I had when I was a kid....I am now, 49. He said it takes years for those "over exposures to the sun" to start showing up but when they do you are in high risk for atleast 5 other spots of cancer on your body.

How do you prevent it? Stay out of the sun! That is hard for an outdoor girl like me who lives along the coast and loves the sunshine. The #1 thing to do is wear sunglasses while outside to protect your eyes. That also goes for your kids too! For years I have worn plenty of sunscreen and hats and glasses when outside...in fact I am a little on the pasty side considering other friends of mine but it was damage done when I was a kid that is catching up to me know.

GO GET YOUR KIDDOS SOME COOL SUNGLASSES AND MAKE THEM WANT TO WEAR THEM!!!!

I have already made an appointment with a dermatologist to check out the rest of me on a regular basis. Being forewarned is wise !

Learning how to make a blinkie

Today is my husband's birthday. Hopefully, I will have some photos to upload later. Right now it is time to get the kids ready for school. As for me, I will be running the school store this morning and I am incredibly late. Later I will be rushing around getting ready for tonight. We have family coming over to celebrate and I need to cook. Hope everyone has an awesome day!



This was a Carvel Ice Cream Cake...Note to self, let it thaw for more than a couple of minutes before adding the candles. The cake was still so hard that the "9" candle broke right in half. Good think I had one from Sam's b-day a while back. Mix-matched, but what can you do?

Ok, so this is my first official written post. Here it goes....

I was so excited to be asked to be a part of the Cherry Blossom Studios (aka Scrapbook Central) Design Team. Thank you Michelle R. and Tammy F. YOU ROCK!! I have had so much fun being a member of Scrapbook Central's DT for 2008 and was honored to be chosen again this year. However, when told that creating a blog was required; I felt sick.
You have to understand, I am always the one who creates a layout and leaves an empty space to journal later. Almost all of my work is, considered by me to be, in the unfinished pile. I have great intentions of one day going back to add that "Oh so important journaling", but just never seem to know what to write. So, when asked to start this blog, I was worried and scared that it would be very empty.
But, as Tammy so gently pushed, I silently cringed from within. Luckily, I have discovered that it can be fun. I have spent a little bit of time last night and today adding gadgets and looking through different backgrounds. Uploading a few pictures of some of my layouts and hope you like it. Feel free to let me know how I am doing.
